A wildlife lodge on a 33,000ha farm adjacent to the Grande Sertão Veredas National Park on the junction of Goiás, Bahia and Minas Gerais states, 5 hours' drive east of Brasilia. The lodge has an excellent restaurant and a small pool (with massage table and hot tub) and plenty of communal areas for relaxing. There is a strong focus on conservation as this is one of the last refuges for the endangered maned wolf which is highly adapted to the Cerrado savanna ecosystem, and the NGO Onçafari studies both wolf and jaguar behaviour here, with several collared individuals. A family of marmosets lives around the lodge, and tocu toucans and blue-and-yellow macaws are frequent visitors. Read more»
